Holiday Hygge

“Hygge is about atmosphere. An experience. Rather than about things.”

- Meik Wiking

The world feels like a lot right now, doesn't it? If you want- take a moment, put your feet on the ground and feel them there. Take a slow breath in and an even slower one out. Repeat that.

I'm sitting in Stockbridge, looking out the window. It's gently snowing as I write this. Even out here in the country, we can still overpack our schedules and feel overwhelmed.

This weekend my sister and I strolled our little neighboring town of Hillsdale, NY. We had lunch at Cook & Larder cafe, did some local shopping in the Hillsdale general store, and attended a sweet wreath making class from the folks at Vine Gate Lavender Farm, hosted by The Little Apple Cidery. Then we followed it up at our friends Dan and Gus' beautiful home, filled with family and friends. It was a day of un-productive delight.

Wherever you are in your life, I hope you can find more of these moments in the new year.

I'm hoping to plan my garden, get some bees, and maybe sing a little more. We need more music in the air.

What small things are you hoping to do to bring yourself some joy or find some peace?

Here's to moments of un-productive delight, Hygge, and peace for you and yours during this season,

McCaela, Joe, and the boys
